VÍTEK PISKAČ: DANCING

I started dancing when I was around ten years old. After switching dance partners and schools, I practiced five times a week, and had competitions on the weekends. My whole high school period was like that, for four years. Friends that I met at the dance school then opened their own club, where I began teaching ballroom. It closed when they moved to Lanzarote. That was good timing for me, as I went to university to study law. I had never had a break from dancing before. Even when I was in the USA for three months to work as a life guard, I was teaching dance. One day I just came from the street into a dance studio and said: Hey, I am Vítek from the Czech Republic and I would like to teach dance here. And so I did. Then I also teached with charities, and gave ballroom lessons for disabled people.
Nowadays, I still give shows two or
three times a year. I always need a couple of hours to remember the
steps. When I was younger, I had a lot of energy and danced fast. But I
have calmed down, I enjoy the dance more. And I won't compete ever
again, I don't need to. I love dancing in front of people. Whenever a
couple starts dancing, even if they're not that good, all eyes are on
them. By teaching and sharing my passion with others, I want to give
people the opportunity to have their own show time. My goal is to gather
a community in Kutna Hora, to give dancing lessons for everyone, and
organize an open dance floor for people to practice together on
weekends.
